Chicago Sports: 108 Years of Anticipation
Chicago sports and I have a huge love-hate relationship.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan, through and through. I will always cheer on Chicago no matter what!
I will say though, that is does get hard to watch your teams when they are losing streak (ahem…the Bears).
On the other hand, the Cubs are all of a sudden crushing it! Their fans are a true testament to fans across the world. This is only the second time that the Cubs have secured the number one seed in the National League playoffs since 1994 (patch.com).
They haven’t won the World Series in 108 years, so you can imagine that Wrigleyville is in a constant state of hustle and bustle. On game days, the city is a sea of red and blue attire, drunken fans struggling to stay standing on the train, “W” flags hanging in residents’ windows and whoops coming from Clark Street. The excitement and anticipation is both contagious and terrifying. Chicagoans went NUTS when the Black Hawks won the Stanley Cup…I can’t even begin to imagine what will happen if the Cubs win. This is 108 years of waiting and build up.
Cubs fans are not like any other fans and how can you blame them for the excitement?
Do you think that this is the year? I hope so!
Clark Street, buckle down.
Chicagoans, get your Cubs gear now!
