Make It

I’m a Multi-Tabber

I’m that person.

I’m a multi-tabber.

And that is a characteristic of my also being a multi-tasker.

I think that I use my right click more than the normal left. Maybe it is because I get distracted easily, but mostly I hate losing my spot on a page, so I open a new tab.

I’ve been caught red-handed by Josh for complaining about the speed of my internet, only to find that closing my 50 tabs quickly solves the problem. I think that I use the right click on my mouse just as much, if not more, than the left. I like to make sure that I’m not being directed away from whatever website I’m on. Do you know what I mean?

But, it’s a real problem. Multi-tasking is a dangerous game and usually leads to less productivity. Those tabs that I constantly open often get forgotten because I’ve opened SO MANY.

Whenever I complain about how slow my internet is running, I have to remind myself to double check the number of tabs I have open….and then miraculously everything runs smoother once I get rid of all 50 of them. Yeah, I’m that bad sometimes.

I definitely need to get back in the swing of prioritizing what I need to do and focusing my attention on that until it gets done. No more multi-tasking! Whenever I got crazy busy and needed help focusing, my mom gave me these tips that I still stand by.

1. Take a deep breathe.
2. Write down all the things you need to do.
3. Re-write the list in order of priority.
4. Ignoring all the other items on the list, start at the top with #1 and focus solely on that task.

While you could do this on any ole piece of paper, I got a system.

Call me old fashioned, but I love my Franklin Planner. While I usually use my phone for planning as well, there is just something about a tangible planner that gives me such satisfaction checking things off my list.

The way that my planner pages are set up, I am able to list all my daily tasks and then prioritize using and “A, B, C” system – A’s being the most important daily tasks. I also have a daily layout for any appointments, calls, meetings as well as a spot for notes.

Let’s just say, I’m a big fan.

The options are truly endless when it comes to organizing my planner – sticky notes, bookmarks, stickers and tabs, oh my! My little organizer heart gets so happy!
